Vermont #78!!! I really LOVE to be outside in the beautiful Green Mountains! I'm a single mom, so when I'm not spending time with my son or working I'm in the woods hunting and fishing! I'm addicted to deer hunting at 2,200 ft, tracking... bucks from Mt to Mt with my Dad and the boys. I'm an avid hunter that loves hunting turkeys in old hardwoods and black bear in deep valleys. I adore goose, duck and bird hunting with my shotgun. Yes, I eat everything I kill... Even a wood chuck or two lol Fishing is another passion of mine! Been known to ice fish in below zero temp and fly fish miles up in mountain brooks for trout. Rifle, muzzleloader, shot gun, bow and fishing rods are all tools of my trade! I know I defiantly could survive off the deep Vermont wilderness!! Please vote for this redneck huntress #78 :)

Hello from the beautiful Green Mountain State of Vermont! I am truly a very fortunate woman to hunt and wander the lush colorful Mountains, deep valleys and steep ledges of rugged Vermont. In these woods I’ve had some of the most amazing times in my life with my family. Family is everything to me! Just being outdoors with them is my favorite hobby. It doesn’t matter if the weather is nasty, if the terrain is tough, or if I haven’t seen anything for days. I just love the adventures we all get to endure together.

My Dad and my family, some related by blood and other just by heart, have taught me so much about the wilderness. Patience, motivation, diligence, conservation and ethics are all qualities that I have learned from an early age. My devotion for the outdoors is close second to my family and my son. I am proud to be a Vermont Huntress and take pride in my heritage.

The best part about hunting for me is all the memories my family and I make together. I am very excited to pass on my knowledge to my son, just like my family did to me. I’m always ready to learn and acquire new skills to better my wisdom of the outdoors. I hunt for the adventure, to put meat on the table, my passion for spending time outdoors and most of all quality time spent with family.

I was mentored into the sport of hunting by the most amazing family, friends and community that a little redneck girl could ever ask for. I was out hunting with my Dad for years before I could even lift a rifle and when I was young I had some of the best hunters safety instructors. They encouraged, educated and believed in me just like my family did. I am small town girl with big huntress dreams and I have been lucky enough to have immense support to get to where I am today.

From my own personal experience, I have found just bringing anyone who is interested in the many aspects of hunting, out in the woods with me will spark their interest more. Whether they are an adult or child who has never hunted, I like them to get a “personal hands on experience” by tagging along with me, unarmed. Sometimes even my weapon of choice is my camera. Key points I try to teach are identification of what we are hunting and why. I love pointing out any clues and signs left behind. I also believe ethics and safety are priority to teach anyone who is out in the wilderness.

If one has taken a hunters safety program, I make them show me their skills at the range before they come with me armed. I like to always include a refresher on muzzle safety, identification on the animal we will be hunting, and of course situations where ethical decisions will need to be made. If I am confident in their shooting and they pass my own tests, then they will be able to hunt with me. As a mom, I also need to be extremely safe in the woods and return home to my little boy. Anyone I have ever taken hunting I tell them no question is a stupid question and I love to help whenever I can.

My values, morals and ethics were tested this past hunting season. I didn’t have a vitals kill shot on a Vermont trophy. I was sad to see him bound off, but so proud I didn’t pull the trigger. I am very excited to see what kind of rack he has this year! Hunting ethics has always been important to me. I have always valued fair chase, followed hunting laws, known my own personal limits, respected other hunters and respected the land. I always have to know what’s behind my target and if I don’t I will not pull the trigger. Hard work and practice pay off and help me know what I am capable of. I am always prepared for my hunts, maintain my equipment, and pack out what I pack in. I would not consider being in the woods with anyone who’s judgment is impaired nor would I enter the woods with my own judgment impaired. I believe there can be a difference in a legal kill and ethical kill. I understand each hunter has their own ethics and standards and I expect anyone I choose to hunt with to hold theirs at the same level.

I hold my standards so high because I am the mom of an amazing little boy and want to be able to pass my knowledge and skills on to him. I am an avid hunter of what’s in season and help provide for my family. I grew up a “ tom boy” running equipment in the family gravel pit business, help a local farmer during hay season and relish in being physically fit. I am a big kid at heart from keeping up with the guys, getting muddy with my jeep and roughing it at deer camp when time allows, fly fishing, target shooting and playing softball. I have learned how to enjoy life while hunting and to relax while watching the world go by. I owe my extensive knowledge in hunting to three very important men in my life; My Dad, Uncle Pete and Old Frank all of whom have also taught me many other very important lessons in life.

I would love to win one of these trips to add to my experiences, make new memories and to get the opportunities to explore the world around me. I love the adventure of new surroundings and strive to be the best no matter what atmosphere I’m in. I hope to also be able to show other women out there what amazing experiences there are available to if you work hard and keep dreaming big.
