It’s 3:45 a.m. and I’m heading down the road, my headlight leading the way. As I pull slowly onto I-90 West for the adventure of Spring Turkey, my mind runs wild with excitement. I know that the Deer, Antelope and Game birds of my home state of South Dakota occupy the dreams of many and I am so blessed to be apart of it. I’m meeting my brother for the annual Spring Turkey opener. There’s nothing better in my mind than spending time in the woods with the special people of my life. These are the times many often take ...

The word huntress isn’t a name or a title. The word huntress comes from the way you feel about yourself when your are hunting. You become a huntress in your heart and it becomes one with your soul while respecting the land and Gods creatures. 1. Why do you hunt and what is the best part about hunting? My father always hunted or fished it was who he was. I spent a lot of my birthdays in the woods, being that it was on the 3rd day of bow hunting season. I was able to see him for who he was when ...

As long as I can remember, I have been enthralled with hunting and the outdoors. From fishing for channel cats off of my grandfather’s dock at four years of age, to bouncing in the driveway all flush-cheeked and excited when dad would come home with a limit of ducks or a deer in the back of his truck, something deep down inside of me has always felt so fulfilled by fishing and hunting. Looking back on that little girl now, I guess it’s no surprise that 20 years later I have become a woman who lives and breathes for hunting, fishing ...

As I ponder my evalution as a Huntress and avid angler, I realize my journey began many years ago growing up in the great state of Virginia, rich with wildlife and abundant with waters! My parents still enjoy sharing stories of me wanting to sleep in but rolling out of bed at the last second when Dad was leaving to go fishing for fear of being left behind! So began my love of the water and fishing! Over the years I've had the blessed privilege of fishing in various states on the east coast along with the Gulf Stream and ...

Every little girl idolizes her daddy and growing up I wanted to be just like mine. I wanted to be a truck driver, a fireman and, most of all, a hunter. Some hunters would say you can’t “call” in wild boar, however my sister and I would disagree. Our first boar hunting adventure to Oklahoma had been planned for many months.
